About Me
I have been a student of yoga
since 2003. Yoga started out as a form of exercise that I used after my sports
workouts. My practice continued, but my reasons for yoga shifted. I used yoga
for staying toned, for flexibility in the body, social aspect of going with friends,
or purely because it made me feel good. Even though, my reasons for yoga were
different from day to day, it always seemed to tailor to my needs. It has been
quite a journey, and I reached another point in my life where yoga became something new.My practice became an important tool that
helped me to reconnect with myself, with others, and with something spiritual. My mind's tendency of living in the past, worrying about the future, and the lack of tools I had to
cope with life on life’s terms caused me to seek something more. I finally got the courage to step away from what felt
comfortable, and surrender to doing something
different. From my personal experience as well as the experience of watching
others I have seen the positive impact yoga has had on the person who wants to
develop a more flexible body all the way to the person who wants to develop a
more flexible mind, and everything beyond and in between. I finally tried
something different, and I did a 200 hour Classical Yoga Teacher Training
program at the urban ashram; Kashi Atlanta. Under the direction of Swami Jaya
Devi Bhagavati and many wonderful teachers and mentors. I was taught how to
live a yogic life through bringing consciousness to the present moment.
Kashi taught me how I can make new groves through making one conscious choice at a time and through service to my community. I believe I am always a student first, and a teacher second. Yoga is a gift and a discipline that has allowed me to feel a whole new freedom in my life, I am forever grateful. Namaste.
